GM Milan Velimirovic passed away
Yesterday night I received the sad news from GM Ljubomir Ljuboevic in Belgrade: Our common friend, the great Serbian problem composer and solver GM Milan Velimirovic has passed away on Monday at the age of 60 following an incurable illness.
I have known Milan since the world composition congress in Ribe (Denmark) in 1976. We spent there a lovely week and another pleasant day with common friends in Copenhagen. I met him regularly in the following congresses until we both took a long break independently from chess composition in the period 1985-1994. Though we were born in the very same month April 1952 he was always my idol and I admired his works (mainly his twomovers and threemovers) and his boundless devotion to our art. Besides his numerous masterpieces he published many appreciated instructive articles wrote a couple of leading books most notably the Encyclopedia for chess problems, themes and terms with Kary Valtonen last year. He was the editor of the magazine Mat Plus in paper and online. You may find an obituary by his close friend GM Marjan Kovacevic:

Rest in peace dear friend.
